URGENT Announcement
Dear parents
In the light of the government’s announcement concerning school closures, we would like to inform you regarding the decisions that have been made for Solid Foundations:
- School will close at 10h00 on Tuesday the 17th of March.
- All school outings which were planned for this week and the original first week of next term are postponed (Apartheid Museum, Mapungubwe Museum, Voortrekker Museum).
- Senior primary sleepover is cancelled. The weather is too cold to postpone it to Term 2. Pupils who have bought tickets will be refunded (please present ticket in the office).
- The Grade 4 medieval feast is cancelled. The hygiene issues surrounding the feast are an obvious problem in the current situation.
- Pending government confirmation, school will reopen on the 14th of April 2020. Should the nation-wide school shut-down extend longer than this date, our school is currently exploring online teaching options for Term 2.
We need to make a decision regarding After Care remaining open or closing for this time. Please could all parents who would need to make use of the After Care facilities at our school let us know by no later than 12h00 Monday the 16th of March.
Based on these numbers, we will make a decision about keeping After Care open, and will inform you by 14h00 on Monday.
Parents who feel uncomfortable sending their children to school this week may keep their children home with immediate effect. Pupils will still be marked off as present and will not lose their non-absentee status. Please remind your children (as do we) to wash, wash, wash those hands. Liquid soap is freely available in all our school bathrooms.
Praying Psalm 91 over all our staff, pupils and their families…
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armour and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.
If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
Yours faithfully and prayerfully
